Industrievereinigung für Lebensmitteltechnologie und Verpackung e. V. (IVLV) (Industrial Organisation for Food Technology and Packaging)

The non-profit Industrievereinigung für Lebensmitteltechnologie und Verpackung e. V. (IVLV) provides its funds for industrial collective research. It exclusively supports scientific purposes of research and development about food and other products such as pharmaceutics, cosmetics and technical goods and their packaging.

Our special aim is to support small and medium sized companies research and development. As a member of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft industrieller Forschungsvereinigungen e.V. (AiF), a Germany based Working Association of Industrial Research Organisations, we are entitled to apply for funding and obtain research funds from the German Federal Ministry of Trade and Commerce (BMWI)

Main areas of research are:

  • Safety and improvement of quality of packaged goods, primarily food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals by development of new methods and processes or further development of existing ones
  • Interaction between packaging and packed goods
  • Development of new and improvement of existing packaging technology with respect to packed goods - machinery - packaging materials
  • Chocolate - technology

Today there are more than 140 small, medium sized or international member companies in the IVLV. The big sized and international active companies support through their engagement the efforts of the smaller entities.

IVLV and their main research partner, the Fraunhofer IVV in Freising and Dresden, have agreed in 2011 in a stronger cooperation which will strengthen our Efforts. In addition other research partners we find in different universities and in other Fraunhofer institutes depending on the scope of the projects. Each research project is controlled by an industrial project team out of our member companies. As important as the work in the project teams is the opportunity for exchange within the working groups and in seminars. More and more we work together with other European research partner organizations in different projects.

Further cooperation is agreed with:

  • Fachverband Nahrungsmittelmaschinen und Vepackungsmaschinen within the VDMA, Frankfurt, Germany
  • Zentrum für Lebensmittel- und Verpackungstechnologie e.V., Kempten, Germany
